I've heard of the 5th gear whine before, and it was with new components, and it went away after about 10-15 hrs. They kinda liked the gear noise though, sounded like a turbo.

Yep filled the rearend up with fresh oil yesterday.Makes the whining noise jacked up and while riding it.Getting ready to tear it down this evening and try and find out what it is,it needs a new left seal anyway,it's leaking again,3rd time in 2 months, the S.O.B.

It sounds like your have a bearing loose or not put in correctly. I had that same problem in one of my trucks back in the day.

forgot to mention it only whines when it is throttled, when you let off and coast it stops,so it is doing it while in a pull, and pretty sure it is coming from the diff, put my hand on it while it was jacked up while my old lady throttled it...any thoughts???
