Default 2009 Rancher 420 AT w/EPS Transmission Problem

I have a 2009 Honda Rancher AT 420 w/ EPS and in general I love the machine... But what just happened when I was trying to plow my snow??? I was pushing and my load bucked into another load so the transmission started to downshift and I started to get some wheel slip right at the same time. I got the dreaded "-" on the dashboard and that was it... gas or brake, neither would get it to catch. Rocking it didn't do jack either... So... hooked up to the Outlander and back to the garage we go... Being drug backwards, still in that wonderful, always faithful, "-", gear...

I'm hoping that getting it back to the garage, shutting it off, maybe even warming it up, will help me out... Because I'll BET if I go to the trouble of loading it up and taking it to the dealer it'll fix itself when I get there and "nothing's wrong with it".

Just looking for someone that can say "yah... that happens to me all the time, just do this", or "Those 09's had a bad gear sensor with that model and it's an easy fix"...

I just hope someone can save me from the MAJOR Bill looming at the shop for me right now...

Does it have a foot shifter that you could try to manually shift it?

Yes, it's out of warranty, it's about 13 months old now. boo...

No foot shifter, it's an AT. Only thing I forgot to try was moving the switch from Auto to ESP and trying it. Messing with the Fwd/Neu/Rev and ugly red button didn't help me a bit and neither did Rocking or dragging it with it in 4wd or 2. Double-boo...

How Stupid do I feel... So after I posted the original message, I was layin in bed last night thinking... What about turning off the Auto switch and getting into the ESP mode to manually shift with the thumb-buttons (like mentioned above slightly, but w/out foot shifter). I wake up this morning, go out, turn it on, the "-" is still there so I rock it and stuff to make sure that doesn't fix it today, and it doesn't. Then, ESP, and down a couple times, Voila, all better.

What a clod...

Last winter i was riding my brothers 09 420AT when i got it stuck in some ice. Then the display showed the symbol -.The only way it got back to normal was to use the shifting fork in the tool kit. After that it was O.K.

It might be a "safety feature" built in to avoid wrecking the tranny but rather disengages completely instead.
