I have a 2008 honda rancher 420 4x4, standard transmission.
What kind of oil can i run in it? The owners manual suggests a certain "honda blah blah blah oil", however there isn't a honda dealer near me. I'm wondering if there is a different type of oil that i can pick up at the local auto parts store? |

I use the valvoline in mine, and I've run royal purple too no problems...errr.... aside from burning up clutches but I dont think it had anything to do with the oil...

I live quite a ways from the dealer too. Castrol 4T, 10w-40 motorcycle oil, for example, can be bought most anywhere and it meets all the API and JASO requirements for the Rancher. The oil filter can be purchased through O'Reilly's (Wix 24944) or Napa (4944) and it comes with the o-rings.
