Hi, i have a 350 rancher es that needs a new connecting rod and im not sure if i could do it myself. There is a good used bottom end for sale cheap i found but it is for the 350fm which is a manual shift. The rancher es is electric shift so are they completely different or could i possibly buy the fm one and make it work for mine?

You can make it work but you'll have to switch a few things between motors. Front and rear cover, shift shaft, shift motor, angle sensor (both will be with the front cover), and that's about all I can think of off the top of my head.

so i will not have to split the case to do that then? if not would i be better off repairing the old bottom end which needs a new rod? I have never split a case before and am a little nervous about taking it on myself so i am trying to find the best way to go. thanks for the reply

You will have to switch the covers but you will not need to split the crankcase.
