On my 2004 rancher 400 auto I am have a problem that on slow starts in auto it will start moving the then just slip, release the throttle and you can hear the shift solinoid moving. If you give it haft to full throttle trans will ingage just fine and work great.the trans will work if in esp too. I think it is some kind of seting but what? All help would be great.

sounds like a possible control motor to me are you getting any codes flashing or can you do a code retrieval

No code flashing and do not know how to retrieve codes at this time. Got manual coming from ebay 2 weeks.

The problem is your centrifugal clutch is slipping...

Just got service manual and that is want I came up with so thinks on confirming it. Do you know of any aftermarket clutchs for it? I am checking one on Highlifter. Thank again

And should I replace the chutch,springs and drum assy.

Come on people need some help to fix this problem. 04 rancher 400 esp/at it will slip in auto at low throttle but working fine in esp shifting, will the centrifugal clutch do this????

Believe it or not I just got my rancher back from the guy I had working on it and the Auto it binds up, doesnt move very well but the ESP works just fine he told me the clutch or something along those lines was going bad so for now I'm just going to use it in esp until I save some dough to fix it but let me know what you come up with

I use only Honda oil in it. But I do have 5600 km on it. And on half to full throttle will work fine in auto.

HAHA Used it one this yesterday the clutch was slipping so bad it was throwing me a 2 code which was Vehicle Speed Sensor... and in the manual first thing it says it to check the clutch... Looks like its a clutch replacement for me Let me know how you guys make out
