420 won't start in cold

I've got an 07 420FM and tried to start it the other day in the cold. It was -25 c, or -13 F, and I could hear the fuel injection working, and it turned, and fired, and turned and didn't fire, and then backfired, then truned and fired, and turned without firing, and then backfired, and this cycle continued indefinately. Never did start. I would have thought that the fuel injection would have helped with cold weather starting. I was able to get my 07 Foreman started, but I did need to use the primer knob on the side of the carb. Interestingly, my 98 Recon fired right up, good thing too, because it has the snowplow on it. (Amazing how much snow a 2x4 will push with some weight on the back)

Anybody else have cold weather starting problems? Any ideas for how to start it in the cold? I would like to use it, and the warm weather is a long way off. Thanks.

I have had this problem as well and it turned out to be a bad spark plug, on both the 420's ( an 07 and an 08) that I own needed a new plug after about 3 months.

Did you use a the standard plug, or something different? A new plug is an easy fix.

You were right about the plug. Put a new one in, and runs great now! Thanks.
