Got a 2010 420 rancher. Just recently got got it all back together from a top end rebuild. Went in 1 ride yesturday and had no problems. Today I was in the yard doin yardwork. And was in 2nd gear when all of sudden. It just stopped. The 2nd year flash a few times when I give it gas and then goes -- any thoughts on this?
I havnt tried to shift it manually. Really havnt messed with it since it messed up but. Looking back on some post and finding the code charts. Mine is throwing a code 22
Still, try to shift it manually since a broken tooth on the shift reduction gear, dirty/bad shift motor or the angle sensor can throw a 22 code. If it shifts good manually then probably the angle sensor.
I just changed my angle sensor and still no working tried manual and seemed jammed. Gave motor a couple tapes and it worked for a couple minutes. Any idea's
I've got the same code on the AT I'm working on. I had to take the shift motor off to be able to shift manually (keep in mind I'm using a tiny 8mm wrench, not the emergency shifter). My reduction gears looked good, took the motor apart and it was clean and brushes looked ok so I put it back together. It spins both ways great when I test it, so I'm going to try an angle sensor next.
On I have the shift motor removed and it is really dirty. And I have gears stripped on the motor. I noticed there is tiny balls inside where the shift motor is installed. Is there anything I need to make sure I do before going back with this. I'm going to look into a new shift motor since the gear is stripped.
I too think that you should try to shift it manually, the problem might get solved. My cousin suggested me a blog which was basically on motorcycle hauling, since during that time I was about to shift my car to Florida and was thinking of hiring a shipping company The blog which my cousin suggested also specified a problem which was similar to yours. If you want, you can checkout the site.
Angle sensor fixed my AT's shifting (sort of). Still doesn't work in auto mode but shifts N,1,2,3 great now. I think the Auto/4,5 problem is due to the speed sensor and gear reduction I did.
I agree that you should try shifting manually to make sure that everything is free and working propertly inside so that a new motor will be able to shift the gears/
