I mounted my replacement switch with the same Superwinch types as this; the photos and video really helped; i too installed the relay box in the back; and i tied the red switch wire into the battery positive side as 1 of the screws for the ignition cover wouldn't turn...the winch won't kill the battery from sitting. The clock does that after awhile. I had a direct hookup switch with just the 4-wires before and it never drained the battery....why would we need a clock in the digital dash in the first place? I see it as just a convenience.....my wheeler sat for 4 months and then i had to use the pullcord; so it was due to the clock; after sitting idle with no use of course any battery will go dead; just the way it is.

Only if the winch is winching, no contact from thumb switch, no power, no problem.
