Hey guys,
Looking at the STI Black Diamond XTR and Mud Lite XTR but want to know pros/cons of running 9" tires all the way around? Is it a smart decision? I don't really want to put 11" on my rear wheels. I don't do a lot of extreme mud riding but a little here and there. Mostly just hunting and hauling. Oh and I'm going with the 26" high as well. Thanks!

the 9in all around will make it less stable on the sides of hills and can role over easyer then if you put the 11in on the rears
i have 10in tires on all 4 corners and cant stand it ....very tippy going over rocks and logs

I personally have ran both. All skinny and skinny/wide. I like the wide tires on the back just because it helps to stay on top of the mud. It has a bigger footprint so it is less likely to dig you down in bottomless mud. But I do alot of mud riding so that's just my personal preference.

![]() These are 25x8x12 and 25x10x12 Black Diamond XTRs on STIs HD2 Slik-Kote wheels. These tires have done nothing but impress me ever since I first put them on. I would not run 9s all the way around. When I "refurbish" my Rubicon this year I will put Black Diamond XTRs on nicer OE wheels than the ones I have. If I could get 26x8x12 for the front I would. I will most likely get 26x9x12 for the front and 26x10x12 for the rear. I prefer skinny tires to wide tires but wider tires in the rear will add stability to your ATV. These are the best all around tires I have had to date. They are great high performace tires and provide excellent traction, stability and lateral control. They love to be riden hard. I have no experience with Mud Lites but they would have to be one he11 of a tire to out perform the Black Diamond XTRs.

9's all around are good for mud with a hard bottom. If there is no bottom, or it's soft they are useless. One advantage is that you can rotate your tires all around so they wear evenly.
Personally I always run skinny/wide, works best for me.
