Looks like I haven't been anywhere for a while.

I went for a short ride yesterday and passed a side trail that I had never been on so I went back
today to see where it went - they are usually dead ends but a few of them have turned out to be killer rides.

This trailhead to the Paiute 01 Sam Stowe Trail, it's about 1/2 mile from my place - this was the trail I rode.

I love flowers. And Indian Paint Brush is one of my favorites.

Here's the side trail - Lewis Hollow

This is the little pond in the video below.

17 seconds into the video I hit the only rock out there.

While my ATV was over at Doug's he took my rack off and had the brackets welded back onto the
frame and welded the busted rack too. Now I can carry my trunk and hang a garbage sack off the back.

This is what I picked up yesterday - today - the trail was litter free.

nice looking trails you get to travel, do you pay to use those state trails or is it all included in your registration that you pay yearly?, you should see the garbage all us wheeler riders take off the trails in the spring from the snowmobilers, plugs, air filters, belts, beer cans, liquor bottles, oil bottles, goggles, a cowl a couple times and even one single boot once ?

I hate the trash others leave behind - I have found it's no particular group just the F'n a$$holes that don't carry out what the carry in.

I live in the middle of the Paiute Trail - there are several thousand miles of trails on over 1 million acres - it's mostly BLM and US Forest Service with a little private land.

Funding to maintain the trails come from ATV registrations ($13 each and there are over 300,000 ATVs registered in Utah), fed fuel tax and money donated from Utah State Parks and Recreation - over $350,000 went into the trail system last year. There is no fee to ride the trail but your ATV does need to be "registered" - here's a link to see which states Utah reciprocates with: Out-of-state Residents | Utah State Parks - click on the: Find out the status of your state.

The Paiute Trail Committee put the concept to reality together back in 1989. The committee is made up of volunteers from the BLM, Forest Service, Utah State Parks, 3 County Commissioners, 2 County Sheriffs, local business owners and just local people - they all work together to keep the trail system open, clean and safe to ride. Yes - government and the public sector working together - its very unique and admired by many. Just to plug myself I am currently the President of the Paiute Trail Committee - a huge honor for me.

These three videos are the best I have ever seen that give the best description of the Paiute Trail. If you go to atvtv.com and go to the Adventure videos (right column) Doug has done other videos on different trails here.

The Paiute Trail is the largest trail system in North America. I live at the Fremont Indian State Park roughly 15 miles from Marysvale.

alot of other states could benefit from using Utahs trail system as a model for other states, currently here in NYS when we pay ATV registration over 3/4 of the money paid goes to the snowmobile trail fund to make and maintain trails that we cant use only the sleds can use them because they are not considered a motorized vehicle in NYS ....thats how effing bright our leaders are, i do agree that its a certain type of person that leaves trash and stuff behind but around here snomobiling is more of a means to get from bar to bar to bar so no one really gives a rats ass because they are half drunk and just in it because friends are or they think it makes them look cool, and coincidently the same types of groups of people are also the ones that own harleys and they dress all up to no end only to put 30 miles on their bike bar hopping....but theyre (real) bikers!!!.....probaly the kind of bikers that glyde picks on , one of these days im coming out to Utah to rack up some miles!

And they tell us not to "stereotype" but its hard not to some times.

Fee's from snowmobile registrations go to grooming the snowmobile trails here - some money that goes into each trail system comes out of the same OHV fund - OHV recreation is huge here in Utah - they figure that the Paiute Trail generates around $3-4 million in the local economy - a very rural area so the benefits are huge.

We have several groups from across the country asking how we do it - we have committee members going to CO this month to speak to another large OHV group .

positively.......but Ive always said in the same breath to let them be, as those people spend THOUSANDS & THOUSANDS on motorcycles and then their wifes get mad and the bike has to go peroid or they have a small spill (refer to wife) and then people like US people on the forum end up getting some Rocking Deals on motorcycles and Quads,boats....etc!

another big one is yuppies getting married & buying New homes....1st thing to go if the motorcycle....hehehe

Kenny: we have to pay a yearly fee it's around $48 for small Game & Fishing licenses and that go's in part to keeping up the trails and gives us a permit to ride quads..etc,......privately owned/leased areas like Wind Rock & Brimstone is maintained by the land owners.....

I envy you Rubi. One day I'm just gonna load up and take a trip out there so you can show me some of those trails. That scenery is just awesome. Those pics and vids are great.
