Default where I live

I am "semi" retired. I live and work here at Big Rock Resort, home of the World Famous Big Rock Candy Mountain.

We are a seasonal resort. We open the entire resort around April 15th and close around the end of October.
We keep the café and our motel rooms open year round.

Big Rock Resort is located in the heart of the Paiute Trail here in Utah.

Here's where I live. I manage the resort grounds, I am the camp host for the RV Park and manage the resort during it's off season.

Here's two short videos that kind of show you around where I live.

I'm ready to retire too....Nice video and love the clear blue skies. If I'm ever in Utah....will have to check that area out.

Thanks for the compliments.

I live in the center of the largest ATV trail system in North America, the Paiute Trail. There are about 800 miles of trails on the map and easily another 1200+ miles of riding.

I've posted serveal pictures in another forum and here's a link if anyone cares to see them.

I haven't been out riding much other than just around here on the property. I have been doing a little exploring while out checking up on our water. Here’s a couple of short videos I shot of one of the old mines and old pipes.

RR spur and mine video

Our history around here only dates back to early 1860s. The mining and wood pipes here date back the 1890s and are located here on Big Rocks property.

We're adding on to the resort and we are going to make suites out of old cabooses. Here's a couple of videos to give you an idea of what we are doing.

We have the first caboose here, kind of the proto-type and there are currently 4 more being finished up and should be delivered by April 2011.

ride to the caboose video
This video takes you from my front door to the caboose. The RR tracks that you see on the right are the pads where we will set 3 more cabooses. They are transported less their axles on flat bed trailers.

looking around our caboose village video
I took this video up on one of the RR Xing warning signs

inside the caboose video
It's kind of a mess inside. It was vandalized a bit before it was brought here and there are still a few things needed to finish it up. They will be nice from the jetted tubs to the scenery that surrounds them.

Each set of axels weigh 8000 pounds, 2 sets of axels per car.

The first one was delivered Oct 30, 2009. The caboose alone weighs 16,000 pounds so with both sets of axels each caboose weighs 32,000 pounds.

Here it is getting lifted off the trailer and set on its axles. I was way impressed.
