Default Canebreak rattlesnake

I found this rattlesnake under my lawn mower today. I had my lawn mower under the back of my little 4x8 trailer with the tongue of the trailer on the ground. When I picked up the tongue of the trailer it hooked on the top of my lawn mower and rolled the mower forward too. After I took some photos, I first threw a jackstand at it and missed completely. Then I took a 2"x2"x8' and jammed it right behind his head. Then I just smashed his head and neck against the cinderblock foundation until he was dispatched. It was not very enjoyable at all and I kinda felt bad, but I guess it's kill or be killed. I'm definitely gonna have to get a gun soon for stuff like this! It was 35 inches and had 7 rattles.

Your probably better off killing that thing now. By looking at it's eyes it looks like it was about to shed, we call it dog days. the snake is blind through dog days and will strike at almost anything.

yep, eyes glazes over pretty good, they get a **** nasty temper .before they shed. on a up note, skin it ,tan the hide, it'll make a fine wallet. and the rattles look real nice hanging off a key chain. peace

No gauntlet I didn't eat it. I talked to a guy from texas who'd eaten them and he said they were tough. We put the rattles on a post at my buddies barn/bar. I just got the **** thing out of here in case it had some musk or something that would attract more. Maybe I'll be more hard core in the future, but right now I'm just trying not to get killed going to work.
