Me and a friend are kicking around about having a "Ride for Kids with Cancer" benefit. 100% of the proceeds would be going to a children's cancer charity and all of the details going into this thing would be paid for out of our own pockets. We have access and permission to use 300 acres of land where we have been riding since we were kids. We have all the financial aspects of it pretty well hammered out, but we are looking for suggestions, tips, etc. on how we should run it.
We already have contracts written up that would be legalized and notarized that every rider must sign. Stating that it is 'Ride at your own risk'. Although I have talked to the local EMS service and they would donate an ambulance and paramedics to be on site for the day, which is great. SO, has anyone had any experience doing one of these? And how far over our heads should we expect to be? Thanks for any feedback. |

First of all I think it's awesom what ur doing and hope u have lots of people that join ur efforts to help the kids. I think that if you lay down a good set of ruels at the entrance of the property on a billbourd or something, being that it is a charity ride people would respect them. Maybe even have a crew of friends going around on quads making sure every one is keeping it safe.
Good luck.

That's a great idea, a fundraiser for the kids and a good day of riding for a GREAT cause all in one event. How far from baltimore are you? If not to far i could get a group together. Keep us posted!

68Dave - We are roughly 4 hours from Baltimore. 35 miles south of Pittsburgh. So if we get this together and you show up, dont let anyone know youre a dirty bird fan!!!
![]() SWebb - congrats on winning your battle. We are looking to try to get this set up for September since that seems to be a really nice month. We would like to do it over both Saturday and Sunday. We were thinking of a baseline $20 or $25 donation to let you ride the entire day. We'd like to have people bring their own grills and food and sort of make the most of it. We are just looking into the legal aspect of it. This is the part that we are having trouble with because we cant get an answer out of ANYONE exactly what we have to do to make this legit. |

People always like to race. Charge 10 bucks for a simple drag. Its a good way to make some cash. Also if you have the chance do a mud bog it would do well. Also if you could set up a food tent it would make some money. Don't forget about the basic stuff, trash recepticals, toilets, parking, ect... If you have access to a hose a bike wash with some hot chicks could raise some funds. For the legal stuff I would get with a local ATV club. They might even be willing to lend you a hand with planning and manpower ect... Good luck and you are starting the planning early so you should be able to put on a good event. ATV rides for kids would be good too. I know this post is random but I'm just throwing some thoughts out.
