Thanks for the input.
We got the parking area down. Like I said, we got 300 acres with every kind of terrain you can imagine. Any riding you can think of is all in this place. Rock crawls, mud holes, hill climbs, dead flat straight aways, miles of trails that range from beginner to advanced. We have a bathroom area, but we have to see about how much it would be to get some johns out there. But as far as I know, they might just donate them for the weekend. I'm liking the bikini bike wash idea!!! But im sure those poor girls are going to get tired of washing my quad every 15 min. A couple high school kids are in the A/V club and said that they could get some good video of it and maybe add the option to the riders to get a dvd copy of the weekend for an additional $10 donation. Once I get all the details knocked out, I will post everything. In the meantime, any ideas, just kick them to me. |

Between you and gauntlet, it sounds pretty good. I would def. be in. Just keep in mind that times do suck for alot of people right now so try not to make it all about money. I think 25 bucks is great for the day, but in my opinion dont charge for so much once your in, like a $10 drag race but ask for donations or have a food stand hot-dog cart. NO DRINKING AND RIDING which I do on at times but not with that many around. Just my 2 sense. Good luck and keep us posted

Look into an event liability insurance. Your going to want to protect yourself and the land owner if something does happen. Even with a waiver someone with a slick attorney can make a bad day even worse. Most businesses will donate money to cover that stuff for just putting their name on a board at the gate. Years ago I was contacted by St. Jude Children's Hospital and they had donations given to them of trophies and such to give out at events like this so that could be something to check into with the organization the proceeds are going to.

Thanks guys.
It's definitely not going to be about selling things there. We already talked about that and we don't want it to be another benefit thing where they get you through the door then try to milk you dry before you leave. Once you donate the $25 to get, what you do after that is up to you. We are gunning to bring in around $5000 for the weekend. It seems like a pretty high number, but it also seems realistic. We plan on opening the gates at 9 a.m. and the ride will end at 9 p.m. on Saturday and probably do a 10-6 run on Sunday, depending on the turnout. We have to get with the landowner and sit down with an attorney and figure out what to do for liability and insurance plus notarization of the contracts the riders ALL must sign to be a part of the ride. As of right now, we are going to get that done March 12. We are going to stress that there be no alcohol at the event based on 2 reasons that should be good enough for everyone: 1 - Safety, first and foremost. 2 - We'd like to think that everyone there will represent the riding community in a positive way at an event like this. Not saying that a beer or 2 is going to turn you into a raging *******, but there are people that just cant control themselves. It only takes 1 person to do something stupid to ruin something. Not saying you can't go out and enjoy a few beers AFTER, just not during the ride. We talked to a sporting goods store and they are donating 20 10-gallon water coolers that we can set up all over for people to use. We are also going to put the names of all the businesses that donated into a hat and whichever one we pull, we are going to make a donation to the charity in that businesses name for $250. And that is coming out of our pocket. We aren't dipping into the donations for it. I'd like to have riders pre-register before hand. But I'm not sure how open people are to that idea. I know it might turn a lot of people away because they feel like they are committing to something. Any ideas on that would be appreciated also. |
