A friend and his pal went to Rider's Paradise in wyoming co. Wv. it's a atv campground on the pinnacle creek trail system and this past friday night at around 8 pm somebody stole his $7000.00 KTM 525 bike. It was leaning against the side of the campground's restaurant/bar while he ran inside to use thier payphone. There was about 20 people on the front porch and a couple guys backed up to it in a pick up then quickly drove off, nobody seen them loading the bike. He called the police and after 2 hours a officer showed up but for some reason would not make a report. Last night he had a police officer friend of his here in baltimore run his vin thru the system and it still was not on the "hot sheet". Today he contacted W.V. state police and they were'nt much help either. I'm leaving for Hatfield@Mccoy later in october and now i'm packing a lock and chain!

Been to enough Harley runs to know that if you walk away from your ride it better be locked up. Sure Glide has seen the same thing. Seen the same attitude from the police when a $20k Harley comes up missing.
We were at LBL Turkey Bay this last weekend, everytime we left the camp site I locked the Rubicon to the tongue of the toy hauler, even with that someone could have taken it if they wanted. Good reason to have an ole ugly ride..LOL

I don't understand why you received that kind of "help" from the Police...yea, it is a dead end really with no suspect info or leads but that doesn't justify their lack of assistance...IMO

I agree, especially since the riders are their main source of revenue. A bunch of us is going there oct.12th thru the 16th, i told my buddy to tell his friend to make up some fliers with the vin, pics and his # with a reward offered and i would post them everywhere we stopped. He said the only person that really showed concern was the owners of the campground, Rider's Paradise.

here is some food for thought......and thought only NO I am not pointing fingers at anyone.......BUT does anybody know how many get ripped off every year & what brand.
are they the same, have they just started to get stolen....etc etc.....just something to think about, WE had some bad cops here and these guys had Quads, trucks,Guns.....a little bit of everything , but it's odd that nobody cares and will not make a report.....another thing did the owner have Insurance? if you really think about it.....theirs a lot that could be going on!

No insurance policy, that was the first thing i asked. I have full coverage on my rinny and my son's rancher, would'nt ride without it. I don't think you can put in a claim without a police report. It's a shame $7000.00 is alot of money!

68dave...he could go through all of that hassle but I'm afraid it won't do him any good, he would just be wasting his money making the flyers and such.
glide could have it right unfortunately, at least he has a good point....assuming this place is in a small town/county with few officers assigned to the jurisdiction, it is very possible they are crooked. At the minimum, the perps are local and they frequent the place quite often...probably to ride...and steal of course. They have the activity of the visitors down pat and know when to strike, they see an opportunity and do so. Since you aren't getting any cooperation with the local authorities, I would do the work myself and possibly set up my own "sting" operation. I would do some homework prior to carrying it out. I would be suspicious of the owners of the place too. Whatever you do, be careful.
