Wife's ride died! - Honda Foreman Forums : Rubicon, Rincon, Rancher and Recon Forum

Ok so the wifey and I were out riding yesterday and her 2004 Bombarider Rally died. She said she heard a pop and and it quit. I towed it home and the motor is locked up. I drained the oil and there were metal pieces stuck the magnectic drain plug. I pulled the valve cover off and one rocker arm is broke. I've not pulled the head yet as I'm afraid of what I might find. Any idea what I could be looking for or what I might find when I tear it down? Needless to say, mama's not happy right now!

if its just a rocker arm thats not to bad but.......if it dropped a valve or broke a valve thats gona expensive man .when you get it torn down post some pics and BTW how many hours/miles on it .....good luck.......RICH

Would a broke rocker arm cause the motor to lock up? It doesn't have an odometer but it has around 60 total hours of run time. She hardly never rides the thing and now it broke down lol

if a piece off the rocker arm got caught in the timeing chain it can lockit up but .......you wont know untill you take it apart. but im not very fermiluar with the BOMBardiers lol.....RICH

Did it really just go "Pop" or was it BANG? My guess is the rocker got broke by the piston hitting a valve and you're looking at serious, AKA not worth it, money to rebuild the motor. A broken rocker ain't likely to lock a motor solid.

No I've not had a chance to tear into it yet. I'm gonna try to get the top end off tonight. MattT, that is exactly what I'm afraid of. I'm almost certain it dropped a valve and lived up to the BOMBardier name.

my bad geez! i tore in to it and when the rocker arm broke it dropped a valve. the piston is shot, cylinder walls look fine, head is shot, valve is broke. needless to say the BOMB is gonna be junked.

anybody interested in a lightly used BOMBardier rally. great shape needs a little TLC??
