Exclamation Yamaha Beartracker Problems?

Im posting on here for a friend. he's got a 2002 yamaha beartracker 250 heres the problem he can go buy a new battery put it on there and it runs great till the next day or so then the batterys completly dead and wont take a charge again so he put another brand new battery on there and put the voltage checker on there and the voltage constanly goes down then it will die and wont take a charge again, it runs great with a pull start any ideas?

I would guess the regulator or stator but I know nothing on these machines. See if a local mechanic would be willing to copy off a few pages on testing the components.

sounds like it has stator problems or a dead short to ground somewhere
