Default Trucks!!! Need your opinion....

I currently have a 2005 Gmc Z71 extended cab fully loaded, Theres nothing wrong with it at all, but I have always like the cummins and wanted one. so I came across a 2003 dodge 2500 4-door, long-bed, 4wd with 158K miles in my price range. What's yall's opinions? would you do it? I'm at a cross roads and cant decide.

What would you use the Cummins for that you can't do with the gas burner? In my opinion, if you're not going to be towing a lot or hauling really heavy loads then I'd stick with your GMC. I'm not a big fan of Dodge trucks, and everyone I know with them has had transmission problems.

is it a auto or manual??

prior to 07 the trannies weren't the best thing out there.
in 04 they did do some changes that made the auto better.

if its a manual i'd say go for it. there good trucks

its an automatic unfortunately, I dont plan on hauling real heavy loads with it. Im somewhat looking at the 5.9 because my vortec is only getting 13-15 at best and its hurting. I know the 5.9's can get around 20 pretty easy.

Buddy has a 05 cummins, had a built trans put in it 150,000 and that thing is a beast.

There are also a pair of buddies that have a 06 and a 07 duramax, those two are unstoppable, and both have over 200k,just normal wear and tear items.

Saw a 08 powerstroke that had pulled it's head off.

thats what most ppl say.

i had a 08 that had the 6.7 in it. i'd get 18mpg anytime. towing or not. that to me, for a $50,000 truck was terrible. lol

The difference in fuel mileage you may gain with a Cummins over your 5.3 won't make up for the difference in the price of diesel vs. gasoline. You'll be hurting more.

i like having a 3/4 ton. but i haul stuff. your half ton thats newer will haul a load better than my 82 c20. lol.

your not going to save money with gas/diesel. the price of diesel is to high for that to happen
