Default Richs Storage Tube + Audio (photo & Feedback)

I was browsing through the splash screen (the pics change when you refresh the page)

and seen Rich's Storage tube and I had a idea, with these tiny AMPS why not add 2 T's on each end and make it an Audio/Storage Tube! it would be a snap to remove and it could hold a verity of stuff...so I made a quick drawing just to post!

first off.."Credit to Rich" for making his Storage Tube, Ive seen them got Years on plumbers trucks but never dawned to put one on a Quad!

OK guys post your feedback....Dumb--not bad--Cool idea

the line to the right of the amp is a divider of some type yet unknown.

you will need 6" PVC pipe and fittings. i do not think that there is a 6.5" pipe.

i originally got the idea from the audio tubes that i saw on the 4 wheelers lol
1 thing if you go 6in all the way across ,it will block the pod head light. how small are the amps ?will it fit in 4in pvc tube? the only reason i ask is can you reduce it to 4in in the headlight path?
thanks for the kudos glide!!!

only reason I drew it out with the amp at one end incase ya had problems with the amp/wires..easy access, but if you set it up with extra wire length you can put the amp any place..maybe even in one of the T's!

Yea I screwed up the "speakers has to be 6.5" to be flush...LOL....that's why ya ask for feedback!

the AMP's we use would fit in a 4" pipe, another reason I drew it 6" is "THE BOSS" has been wanting bigger speakers....around 40MPH our 4" speakers are hard to hear which is quite often, I think anybody who has rode with us would tell ya we don't drag azz around.....this place is so big you got to get on down the trail to see different views & it's fun

No thanks needed, I try to give credit where it's due and the straight tube was your idea here on the site I think it's only fair! I will most likely build Lisa one for her x-mas present or just for the heck of it.

I think I am going to stick with 4" speakers myself because their WAY too loud when riding technical stuff, gots to keep them turned way down or off.

AMP size..Dimensions: Length 143mm (5.6in), Width 65mm (2.6in), Height 36mm (1.4in) ...... their Very small and should fit into the reducer part of a 6" to 4".

this is the one we use right now, this is just the first one I came to like ours

from here you can find one in the US

I love the idea.

One question though.. Do you have quick disconnect from the speakers so you can remove the amp compartment? That would keep the wires from getting in the way.

I thought about the same thing using 3 tees. two on ends for speakers and access to storage and one in middle for amp and wiring access. That way I could still use the whole tube for storage. I keep alot of stuff in mine.blocking the third headlight isnt that big of a deal for me, most bikes dont have it anyway. ill just put a switch on it.

you could go with the 4" for the storage tube and use 4"x4"X6" tees to hold the 6.5" speakers and still stay below the pod light in the middle with the 4". just a thought.

That would probably work really well. That would allow the light to get over the tube and have the larger speakers. I would of just zip tied the speakers in. lol!

as far as the speaker mounting, everybody uses a 2"-3" sleeve of (the size of pipe your using) where the speakers mount in and put 4 screws in them as shown here when I was rebuilding TXTee's 6" audio Tube.

if you look closely you can see the sleeve glued in on each side..on the Left hand side the RCA jacks are laying on the sleeve....it's a really simple set up.

NOTE:
this is what I took out of her Audio Tube while rebuilding it..the AMP was just slipped in to rattle around! the wires were just twisted together not soldered or even connectors on them.....needless to say it didn't last long before the AMP went South!
