I've used Valvoline ATV oil since I had about 2000 miles on my ATV.

It's rated SG and has friction modifiers for the wet clutch and I like that.

Honda doesn't make their oil, they buy who's ever low bid on their specs.

When I bought my Rubicon back in '01 a giod freind of mine was an oil distributor and if I rember correctly the Honda oil at the time was regular SG rated engine oil from Shell.

I still think that Honda oil is SG rated.

I have a hard time thinking it was the oil. Valvoline ATV oil has friction modifiers designed specifically for wet clutches.

With almost 11,000 miles using Valvoline ATV oil I think I will continue using it, I am 110% satisfied and see no reason to switch to another brand or type of oil.

I have used Valvoline ATV oil in my King Quad. I loved it and would definately use it again. But I am currently using Amsoil synthetic 10W-40 motorcycle oil.

I could not find Valvoline ATV locally, but I did find Valvoline Motorcycle 10W-40, says it's safe for wet clutches, etc.. Will it work in an ATV? If not, I'll just use it in my XT250 I guess..

I just made the switch to this Valvoline atv oil from Honda GN4 at 7500 miles. I just couldnt stand paying the high price of the Honda oil. I hope I didnt make a mistake either but I dont think I did, I thought I heard my Foreman breathe a sigh of relief, lol.

FYI guys, Autozone has the Valvoline ATV oil on sale through the end of May. $2 off a quart, regularly $4.99/ quart, so that comes out to $2.99 quart. Use a Autozone reward card just right and you get about another 20% off that price too.....
