Rode a 1200CC turbo Aquatrax this weekend

Been about 15 years since I rode a waverunner.

Guy Saturday at the lake had a 1200 Turbo Honda PWC. He told me to try and it and I couldn't believe how much power it had. I tested it a few times to get a feel for the throttle and then floored it and it almost threw me off the back. Got up to 60 easily and felt like it had a lot left to give but I had to let off because the water was rough.

Guessing they got out of the PWC market? Didn't see any listed on the Honda website when I looked for specs on it.

I've never been a big fan of waverunners; they're fun for about 15 mins then they lose their appeal, but I was shocked at how much power that thing had. Guess the last one I was on before that was an Artic Cat 900 (IIRC) back in the late 90's. I could floor that one and top it out and still be bored.

Course I was a lot younger and dumber then too, lol

Those were cool, they had a ton of power, and the hull was designed so that you didn't have to trim when riding. Definitely another Honda that went un noticed because they came into the market too late. If its not a Ski-Doo nobody seems to care anymore.

The plant they built the jet ski in is now the plant they build the SXS in. I'm guessing the jet ski didn't sell good enough so they let it go, kind of like the riding mowers.

That's where you get to the "what's the point?" power. I seriously had to really hold on tight to keep from being thrown off the back of the Honda if I floored it from a standstill. 100HP more is just wasted power IMO.

No wonder more and more people seem to be getting killed on these things. Back in my skiing/kneeboarding days I HATED the waverunners. Jackholes would ride behind any boat they could find trying to jump the wake, and didn't seem to care that I was riding on a board behind the boat. Kept waiting for one of them to hit me or run over me when I fell.

They're kinda like crotch rockets; mostly owned by douchebags.

I just read this quote and had to dig it up.

You can never have "too much" Sex, Money or Horsepower.
The question is how do you handle it.

I remember the dealers around here were selling them for 5-6k otd just to get rid of them back in 09-10. If I remember correctly, Honda also had a turbo'd 1500cc model that made 200hp.

I've never been enough of a fan of jet skis and wave runners to buy one but I always enjoy renting them when vacationing around water.
