Default Broken Cv joint

Well I shattered my outboard cv joint on my foreman this weekend. Not to worried as it still runs and drives. Problem is sometimes the pieces bind up and make it hard to turn. Question...until I can get either $700 together for new gorilla axles or get my bike to honda and warantee the stock out, can I just take out the cv axle and still ride? what about a rebuild kit for the outer cv joint? any help is appreciated.

If it like a 4wd truck if you remove the outter cv part and drive it ,it is possible that the hub bearing will come apart. The outter axle shaft nut holds the bearing together. At least that is the way a 4wd chevy outter hub bearing works. But i know this is a atv not a truck.

i wouldn't drive with the axle removed. gonna get dirt in your diff and hub. i wouldn't get gorilla axles either. you simply don't need them, those zillas aren't heavy enough and don't bite hard enough to justify gorillas. you need to practice throttle control. if you decide to upgrade your axles, check out turner axles. they're supposed to be good.

I thought the same thing. However, like the ol saying goes.... "when in doubt, throttle out". We've all been in a bind and sometimes the best thing to do is mash the gas, I try to avoid that because my wallet isnt deep enough to justify it but to some, thats just their riding style. Alot of my buddies ride like that and luckily they dont break anything. I like to beef up anything after I break it, that way it doesnt leave me stuck again.

As for the gorillas...... like you said, I would take my chances with turners as well...... thats what those guys do, build harda5s products.

I wouldn't waste my money on Gorilla's, or Turners, or any aftermarket HD axle. Like lop3r1 said, you really don't need them. I barely need them for my 800R running 29.5's....I've only ever broke axles after tearing boots and getting contaminants in the CV, and a HD axle will do the same thing.
