I bought a ( Warn Industries - Accessories for ATV, Side X Side & Motorcycle Winches: Replacement Mini-Rocker ) Its a Winch control. The guy who owned it be4 me cut the wires off now i have 3 small wires a green one, red one, and black one. How do i wire it up? Which goes to battery and which goes to winch?

Those wires; red to ignition; only have power when the key is on; the green and red wires go to a contactor. The wires from the winch hook to that; also the power and ground to the battery. If the contactor is on the bike; the small green and black wires plug into those on the contactor. No contactor; get one and a bunch of wire connectors and wire it all up....good luck

Here is a typical winch wiring schematic. The wire colors may differ but it will give you a general idea on how it works.

If I read this right a contactor is a switch that that is controled by the switch on your handle bar. The amperage from your battery is controled through the contactor to your winch. The switch on the handle bar tells the contactor to spool out or to spool in. If you cant find the contactor, start at the winch and follow the two cables coming off it back until you find the contactor. It will be a black box with 4 post on it and 2 smaller wires coming out of it. I hope you understand all this. Good luck.

In my450s' post above I think he meant to say the green and black wires run to the contactor. To piggy back on what Tank said, there are two heavy duty wires (yellow and blue) that run from the contactor to the winch, two heavy duty wires (red and black) that run from the contactor and connect directly to the battery, and two small gauge wires (green and black) that run from the contactor to the switch.

If you don't know where the contactor is, it might be easiest to start at the battery. The wires from the battery to the contactor generally aren't very long.

The green and black wires from the switch connect to the smaller green and black wires coming off the contactor. The red wire coming off the switch connects to ignition power.

Some people mount the contactor in the tool box also.

I got an album in the photo gallery called "contactor install" there's a couple of photos of what it looks like; some are shaped different but do the same job for you
