on the 05-11 foreman 500 it is oil cooled and the temp switch is under the skid plate on the bottom of the motor .(with the key on ground the wire to the frame ...if the fan comes on then you will need to test the oil sensor per the manual )
why do you think the sensor is bad ? i have never seen one go bad

The fan is not going on so I decided to replace the thermostat switch. Does the oil switch also control the fan? If so, how do I check it.

It is a stock 2007 foreman 500 4x4. If I hot wire the fan it works so I am looking for what gives the signal to the fan. That's why I thought to replace the thermostat switch.

My 07 Foreman did the same thing. Picked up a new oil temp sending unit from the dealer for $16, dropped the belly pan. Pull the wire off the temp unit and ground it to the frame with the key on. The fan should turn on. I suggest replacing the temp unit when you change your oil or at least be really quick (have everything ready) when you do it to keep from losing all your oil. Quick simple repair
