Default Steep Land and Hard Work!

I run my 2012 Foreman on very steep land. No roads, just hill sides and hard work. I bought it because none of my trucks or tractors can get to these parts of the property. Here's a few pics. It's a lot steeper than it looks. Pictures don't really do it justice. Some of the ridges I cut timber on are at a 75% grade (that's between a 35 and 40 degree angle). I'm afraid the Foreman will have a short life span working like this, but I treat it just like a tractor:

Up the north side off of Bishop Ridge:

Down the west side of Bishop Ridge:

Here's my old 1964 Massey Ferguson 2135 industrial tractor. A friend of mine pulled-out a 35 foot bus that was stuck in mud up to its axles with this tractor. The old Perkins diesel engines and Cessna hydraulics are tough as nails. Also would hang steer from the the loader and dress them. No one makes tractors like this anymore:

Glad to see others on the forum with real, genuine Made in America tractors! Much of the garbage (they call tractors today) is from overseas in part or in full. It's utter and complete trash. Put chains on these old tractors and lock the axle and they'll grunt their way to h*ll and back again or die trying.

Right! My wife was piss3d when I bought a 60yr old tractor this summer, she didnt speak 1 word to me for 3 days (guess I shoulda bought another)! "You could have bought a nice new one like your dad"..... yea but my 23hp will make a fool of that JD's 28hp. Dad was kinda mad too until I showed him the HUGE aftermarket and factory parts list for these things. You can build it from the ground up..... ford obviously knew what they were doing with these babies!

Right on. I've trusted my life to 40 year old hydraulics. Didn't bother me a bit. They were made by American engineers who knew what the h*ll they were doing and over-built everything! I might buy new commercial JD or CAT gear, but being I'm not a gazillionaire, I prefer old industrial MF tractors. You can't beat them. Their Cessna hydraulics are used in jumbo jets and as you pointed out, after-market parts are plentiful.

Yea, Ive always wanted an 8n but until I bought my house never needed one. The only thing I really do with it is run my 5' king kutter finish mower. My neighbor has a single blade plow im going to pick up this summer to make gardening a lil easier.

It'll do just fine for years to come. I have been running stuff like this with the Hondas for decades building fence and tending cattle. No worries.
