OK, so I'm hip deep in snow needing to be plowed with a new Foreman and a pile WARN sub assemblies supposedly specifically designed for the 2012 Foreman 500.
My biggest gripe is about WARN documentation which is very poor. Well, the WARN XT25 winch installation was a bear due to multiple options and a few spare parts(Warn mount kit #87180). In order for it to operate properly through the fairlead without feeding across sharp edges (i.e off the top through the fairlead instead of off the bottom through & across a sharp edged hole the up to/through the fairlead) I needed to uninstall and reinstall rotated 180 degrees and feed off the top of the spool... bummer, but something I could have determined earlier if I was paying attention.... but there remains no mention of winch orientation in the kit instructions. Warn 54" Plow Blade kit #78954... straight foraward and no problems Warn Plow mount kit #87190..."application 2012+ Honda Foreman 500"... It may be for the Foreman 500 but it is NOT compatable with the other components listed above, as it calls for plates to be mounted where winch mounts are already solidly mounted. Of course there's no customer service until after New Years, so I'll need to haul all this gear back across two states so I can address the issue in January.... Yes, of course I can make it work with a cutting torch and welder, but that's not what I paid for... We'll see what WARN product support has to offer. Anyone else have the 2012 Warn compatability issue? Last edited by pls1911; 12-26-2011 at 04:11 PM. Reason: spelling correction |

this is exactly what happened to me last week. i have the 2012 foreman and bought the warn xt 2500 winch and warn winch mount designed for the 2012 foreman along with the warn plow blade and warn front plow mount designed for the 2012 foreman. the part number for the winch mount was 87180 and the front plow mount was 87190.
after many attempts at installing and uninstalling i discovered that besides being as tight as he**, the u bolts that hold the winch mount to the bottom of the frame have to come off to attach the plow mount. of course this is not discussed in the directions. warn industries , not gowarn the dealer, told me that i had the correct parts and to try harder. they also told me that no one has complained about this problem. i told the guy at warn that they couldn't say that anymore. the installation seems ok now but i havent had to plow any snow yet. i cant shake the mounts by yanking on them but thats not much of a test of their strength. lousy documentation for sure. it looks like warn rushed these parts into production without testing them together. |
