Default Snow Plow Mount

I got a Moose snow plow mount for my Foreman (the thing the push tubes attach to). It mounts to the center frame underneath the atv. The directions say to remove the skid plate and install the plow mount and to leave the skid plate off. I'd rather not do that and was wondering how you guys mount these things?

The mount itself is small and doesn't cover much of the frame so it doesn't protect nearly as mush as the skid plate does. I'm thinking of just mounting it and leave the existing skid plate in place drilling some holes through the skid plate. What do you all think?

Thanks for any advice!

I have a Foreman 450, Cycle Country plow, and a front to back aftermarket skidplate. What I did was- drop the skidplate, position the plow bracket, and then use a combination of the hardware to mount it with the plow mount between the skidplate and frame. The only mod the skidplate needed was two notches, about 4"x3/4" so the tabs from the plow mount can hang thru. Doing it this way was way more work than getting rid of the skidplate, but this way everything is still protected.

hope this is mildly helpful

Thanks NSWhooler! I plan to try something similar once I get an aluminum skid plate. I'm thinking of putting my plow mount on the outside of the skid plate rather than between it and the frame. The only down-side to this is that it'll cause the mount to be a bit lower (however thick the skid plate is) than it would be if it was mounted directly to the frame.

i ran a set up like your wanting to do atv guy (except with plastic skid plates like thay use for cutting boards in the kitchen ) and the plow mount had 2 tabs that hung down about 1 in and would get hung up all the time on the granet bolders that are here in the north east .
i think you would be better off taking the plow mount off in the spring .........
