Default 60 Viper Snowplow

I installed my snowplow, took my time and it took a few hours putting it together and mounting. I put it up on auto ramps so that I could get under it easier than with it on the ground. It seems to be well built and went together fairly easily by following the written instructions. The instruction sheets could have been larger print and darker, my eyes are not what they use to be even with bifocals, lol. I am glad I went with the 60", it looks like it will do the job, just need some more snow. My friend has a Warn 48 or 50 and it looks like a toy compared to the 60. The angle mechanism and springs on this seem simple but well made and easy to use, to put the large springs and eye bolts on I removed the socket screw that controls the plow's undercut and this made it a lot easier to start the eye bolts. A bit of a hassle putting the socket screws back in but with a little prying as I tightened them they went back into place. I really like the mount, 3 points of contact on the center of the frame that went on with just a little trimming of the skid plate, it is a solid feeling piece of metal. Putting the third u-bolt in was a challenge but once I got it in it was in to stay; hint, once you get one side of the u-bolt started it will pull the other side through when you tighten it. The push tube is also a heavy duty feeling unit, I think this is the most impressive part of the system. Total shipping weight for the system was 100# in two boxes; 31# push tube and 69# plow and mounting plate and it came UPS. All in all I am very happy with my set up at this point. I put a set of chains on it so right now I am feeling like it is ready to plow.

I have a Viper Max 2500 with synthetic rope, moved my rocker switch closer to the hand grip to be more accessible. Forgot to mention: When I was mounting the plow I found it was easier to get the pins in with it hooked to the winch and raised a bit. I read this on another post so want to give credit to him for that little trick.

Just heard that we are expecting some snow tonight so may get to try it out tomorrow, hope the winds are not bad.

even with synthetic rope you may want to do something like this. i'll post a thread on how to later.

i took a old bike strap and pulled the hook out of the loop on the winch and ran this in. saves on you cable. synthetic or steel will take a toll plowing.
i can pull it off whenever i want and throw my hook back on and use my winch.

here's some pics.

Looks good. No frayed line that way.

That looks like a good option. I was trying to make sure the protective sheath takes most of the abuse but your setup gives me some ideas. I have some old ratchet straps laying around and they would fit the bill, they even have hooks already on them. Just have to see how practical it will be to remove the clevis hook, can't remember how it is attached right now.

should have a pin that goes thru 2 eyelets on the hook. then a hole at the end of the pin for a cotter key.
