welcome to the forum
it sounds like water got in threw the bad wheel bearing (left side correct?) and stripped the splines on the axle shaft ! have you looked in the diff (fill hole) yet or drained the rear diff fluid (it will be shiney with meatel flecks )
it is a common problem .

jack the rear end up and (have someone hold the frontbrake handle) try spinning the rear tires by hand .....if it does spin ....the rear axle is stripped and mabay the ring gear also (you wont realy know untill you tear it apart)
do you need a manual ? if you do ill put a link up for you !

take a coffee filter and put the diff fluid thought it the flakes will show up of there is any or take a magnet to it. I'm not sure how big the flakes would be.

mind did the same thing a couple weeks ago. My parts just came in.now the bad, SEVEN bills. If you go the route i did. You will prob need final drive gear, axel, bearings and seals.or just buy a factory rear diff complete. more expensive but way less pain in the ass. Any expierence with gears? they can be finiky. Spend the $$$. In the long run you get less money for beer but more time to drink it!!!!!

Yea it was the rear axle, ring gear and axle bearing.... not good on the pocket book, but it is good to go now... Not bad for 6800km and the first major repair.
