Lightbulb New Exhaust?...Don't Forget to rejet your Slow Jet!!

I have a stock '09 Foreman FPM and recently installed a Uni Filter and Hmf Swamp Series exhaust on it. During my first service I took it in and asked the dealer to rejet it for me and they suggested and installed a Dynojet kit due to its adjustable needle. (they refused to put spacers under the factory one) After looking into it, I agreed and moved forward due to the tapered needle, spring and success that others have had. I have since rode it for some time, noticing hesitation and what seemed to be flooding at the low throttle. I started to questin the rejet, so I scoured the net to find out that the slow jet controls the first 1/4 of the throttle w/ the main jet controlling the upper 3/4 and the needle the other in between. Hearing that most 450 foremans require a two step jump on the slow jet to a 50 and most 500's being fine with the factory and HMF suggested rejet, I figured what the heck. The factory slow jet is a 45. I ordered a 48 and a 50. Immediately after installing the 48 without any adjustment all I can say is OMG! The machine nearly lept off the ground in the first 3 gears!!
I wanted to post this to let everyone know to seriously consider your slow jet when rejetting as I believe the suggested modification of the Main Jet rejet is slightly off. I have yet to drop my needle a notch to slightly compensate the addition although I don't believe it's necessary. As well, haven't even tried the 50 jet...I am quite happy as is and doubt I will try it for some time to come. Also, after firing and riding around the yard we decided to pull the plug and see how bad it originally was... The plug had at least 1/64 - 1/32" of carbon build up from fouling of running so rich. To answer questions ahead, the carb is a series 21 and I don't have the part numbers for the jets, but should be available at any shop or on the net.

I know for a fact that I won't have any problems water wheely-ing now! Good luck and happy riding! Let me know how this works for everyone and if you see the same results. ~Thanks - n.
