Default Sorry to say this but i had to move on from Honda

been awhile since I've posted but this a great brand specific site and wish there were more like it. awesome people here, lots of good, real info. sold the old 2005 Honda foreman 500 awhile ago to buy a car (which i got screwed out of... but ohh well) it was a great bike never left me stranded... sunk it twice, just stood it up and its ass and pulled the plug and it fired up right away afterwards . I always wanted more power, more ground clearance. i added a hmf pipe, snorkel, k&n and rejetted it was better but nothing to brag about. it would drive me nuts in a mud hole, bouncing off the rev limiter in first 1st but not have the power to spin my 27" zilla's in second . So i just bought a slightly used 09 Polaris 850xp (115 miles at time of purchas) and this thing is a BEAST!!! awesome groung clearance, 12" at its lowest spot... unlike the foreman 12" at it's highest lol. front locker true 4x4 only 350cc bigger then the foreman but 43 more hp.... HEHE and thats not even considering the hmf swamp series or the k&n. the Honda is gone but not forgotten. hopefully someday Honda will step it's game up and stop living on there name and give the die hard fans some well needed updates (i was a true die hard) sure my new bike is a Polaris... something which i use to hate but you just cant beat the full independent suspension, the new motor/tranny setup (now like a honda and turned sideways) the new front suspension on the xp, fully automatic locking front diff (it's awesome no more 3 wheeled action for me) the fuel injection, 850cc 70hp stock. i passed on the power steering. sure the cam-ams are great machine too but those French men can't build a frame that hold that kind of power/weight.

Some pics of the Foreman, upgrades include:
3000lbs super winch
27" zillas on itp rims
rear seat
fender guards
hmf uitilty pipe
k&n filter
jetted
snorkled
powermadd hand gaurds
audio tube (now on the polaris)
homemade plow

great bike just no balls

And now the 850xp

Wait till you get in the mud with that Polaris like the last Foreman pic and your radiator gets packed with mud and you overheat and a Foreman has to pull you home, LOL. Been there done that. Good luck.

Congrats, I've yet been able to ride an 850 but have some time on the 800's. Just too heavy of a machine for me and I'm not use to the soft suspension.

the big machines are heavy but you dont notice it on the throttle. my biggest complaint with my "other" bike is the brakes. they suck azz bigtime. 72hp and little to slow it down. I still love my honda and ride it regularly. although, for faster (speed) rides on rough old logging roads I prefer the outlander. for beating through the underbrush over rocks and tree stumps I'll take my rubi everytime. the lower center of gravity and maneuverability are hard to beat.

I totally understand what u mean, but with the new xp the rad is nice and high stock, (look between the head lights) the front box or rack comes off in under a minute and the rad is right there it takes nothing to clean this one. a friend has the 800 sportsman and the rad is a pain in the ass. i've had the 850 in plenty of mud so far with no over heating problems. here's a pic from the first day i had it, no tag, no ownership or insurance yet (bought it on friday, it got registered the following Monday, insurance..etc)

everyone loves pictues, lol

thanks, the 800 is nice but it doesn't compare to the 850xp. all new motor/tranny front suspension is a double a arm setup now. a larger rear sway bar. i can crank up the preload on the springs and she's pretty stiff, right now it's on the 3rd setting and it's around the same as my Honda was but the suspension is still getting broke in. now for the extra weight i really don't notice it because when i got the Honda stuck 2 men were not lifting it up or pulling it out either so i always had winch it out.

but yes very heavy machine especially comparing it to the Honda 300 and 350's my friend has 95 300 4x4 with 25 mudlites on it and that thing goes everywhere my 500 would. looking forward to riding with him after he gets his rings done.

that sucks about the brakes, no problems on the 850 but the brakes are huge, around a 1/2 inch of clearance between the rim and the caliper with the stock 14" rims, the foreman does have a tighter turning radius though. I'm sure the 850xp does have a higher center of gravity due to the seat sitting 3 inches higher but honestly i didn't notice a difference. biggest difference was getting use to the bike being able to tilt in the rear end

thanks, the pics, are done with a technic called HDR, (high damnic range) (i got my new sony DSLR with money from the foreman.) you have to take 3 pics to make one final one, one normal exposure, one under exposed and one over exposed (normal, dark and light) so you get all the details then you merge them with either, photoshop or photomatix. then use tone mapping to get the desired affect.

when i bought the foreman the Honda name was enough for me until i sold my bike and started looking at what other companies had to offer.

Those things are beasts but watch yourself in the water, unless you plan to snorkel it. My buddy blew his up the first week he had it, thank god polaris backs their warranty cause if Im not mistaken his new motor was like $2800!

Thanks for the warning, 2800buck eesh thats pricey... I'm undecided if I'm going to snorkel this one. If i do I'm really leaning towards the triangle atv stealth snorkel just for piece of mine. i started to get foolish with the Foreman after i snorkeled. (sunk it before the snorkel)
