does any one know what the difference is between the 2 motors the 500 foreman and the 500 rubicon. i know one is water cooled and the other is air cooled but what im really wanting info on is the jug, piston and sleeve. i found a bbk that uses a sleeve for the 500 rubicon to bump the displacement up to 550 cc (75 cc more than a stock 475cc foreman and bigger than the current 506.5cc bbk i have now) and was wondering what it would take to put it into a foreman engine. i was hopeing maybe some of guys on here that do service work on these honda bikes could give me some heads up on whats different between the 2 engines that would make it to where a 550cc rubicon piston and sleeve wouldnt fit into a 500 foreman engine.

here is what i think would have to be done to make it work get bbk for rubicon piston, sleeve, and ring. machine jug in foreman engine to accept new sleeve for 550cc rubicon, machine crankcase where jug bolts to it so bigger sleeve can be pressed in, machine head to accept the new diameter of the 550cc piston and sleeve. possibly have to machine piston crown to the shape of the cylinder head valves and combustion chamber i dont know what the diff is between the 2 bikes cumbustion chamber shapes where the valves are.

There alot different the rub. is a 499 not a 475 thats in the foreman the 499 is a 4 valve not a 2 valve like the 475. Im pretty sure the jug is alot bigger on the rub. as well thats why the big bore is a 506 and 550 the rub is just that much bigger it has 8 more horse from the factory aswell

turners kit is like 2500 bucks and they use the same piston that i have in there now for the 506.5 cc. they just shave it down a bit to make it work with the longer stroke of the crank they have. i have called them and talked to them several times on different things there only about 50min drive from me but there expensive. but i was thinking a 550cc rubicon sleeve with a custom JE Pistons piston to fit and then later sending my piston to turner to get them to cut it down for there longer crank.

so i wouldnt be able to use the piston since the crown would be different shapes for the 2 valve cylinder head. but what about the bigger sleeve for the jug does any one know how much a 475cc jug can be enlarged before you get into the oil galleries and pushrod bosses? i have mine more than a 100 over right now on the stock sleeve but if the sleeve is changed to a larger diameter one whats the largest sleeve that can be pressed into the stock jug after machining for it?
