tire size

looking to upgrade the stock tires. what's the biggest size without rubbing issues and performance loss and broke axles? any tire recommendations? I do trail riding but also like to hit mud holes.

27's or light 28's are about all you'll be able to turn without a gear reduction.

Depends on where you ride. If you get in peanut butter mud much I wouldn't go over a 27

if your on STEEP long grades or pulling a lot of weight, I would even say 26's might be all you want!
a LOT of guys that run tall tires live on rather level ground from MY experience!, steep grades and LONG one's rob power as much as mud, maybe more so!

Yep. It's so flat here you can watch your dog run away for two days.

I run 27x10x12's on the front of all mine. 27x12x12 on the rear.

If you run a lightweight tire 27's, maybe even 28's will be fine. If you run something heavy like Executioners or Outlaws then mrbb's point about steep hills and pulling are a good point and you should stick with 27's or even 26's depending on the weight of the tires.
