I have a Honda foreman 500 es perfectly fine except for one problem. The first gear. When I'm in first gear it pops and that's the only gear it does it in and I don't know what the problem is. Please help me figure this out.
Guessing it's an 08- machine. The dogs are rounded on the gear (what engages it) allowing it to slip under pressure. It's a complete motor tear down to fix the issue but the new gears are updated so it won't happen again.
Pics of my 1st gear are here. You'll need to tear the motor all the way down to get to it, but once you split the cases replacing the gear is as easy as sliding the old one of and sliding the new one on.
