Default runnin lean

My bike is running lean by the looks of the plug. Never has done this before. Did a real good carb cleaning, adjusted the valves, clutch, no rattling in the muffler. Also did the carb spring mod and with that I lowered the needle clip, that seemed to help with the sluggish throttle at a dead stop. Air fuel screw is set to factory. So my question is, do I need to re jet or could it be something else. Starts good, runs good, but seems to be lacking some power. Engine sounds like it is turning faster than the power it is giving. Also feels like the motor gets a little hotter than before. All stock except for the carb mod. Thanks

go 1/4 turn at at time out on the air/fuel screw see if it helps. i did that mod on my 02 450es and it never ran right so i put it back to stock and its been perfect sense. what color is you plug it should be a grayish color on a 4 stroke

My plug is really white so that why I thought it was running lean. Its not running bad it just seems like the motor is not giving the power it should on 3/4 to full throttle.

maybe go down on the needle again and if that doesn't help put it back to the middle setting on the needle and go up a main jet size. that's weird just the carb mod there shouldn't need to be any re jetting maybe check you main jet again make sure none of the little holes are clogged

Maybe I will try the needle again it just has me baffled on how it could get so lean. I just cleaned the jets with a bread tie wire and made sure they were very clean, but its easy enough maybe I will do it again for good measure. Thanks, any more info would be greatly appreciated

try spraying carb cleaner on the rubber boots front and back on the carb see if it changes the idle. coulda tore a boot and its sucking in air.

Well fingered her out. The rubber boot that holds the carb was folded a little on one side, letting air in. So she is running like a champ again. Thanks for all the info.
