2001 Foreman 450 angle sensor testing

k, I have the angle sensor out, performed the test that is in the manual.. with the angle sensor laying on its back so that the slot that goes into the motor is facing up.. turned the angle sensor as far to the left as possible.. the resistance starts at 0.66 then starts climbing as I turn slowly to the right.. about half way through the sweep my multimeter is detecting an open loop but if I keep turning to the right it starts to read again, when I reach full range to the right it reads a resistance of 6.63. The open loop only occurs when turning from left to right.. it does not occur when i turn right to left. Anyone have any experience with these? is this telling me that my angle sensor is toast?
