Honda oil Vs. Amsoil - Honda Foreman Forums : Rubicon, Rincon, Rancher and Recon Forum

anyone who has used amsoil noticed a difference between honda oil and amsoil... and is there any benefits or harmful effects....and have you used 10w-40 or use 0w-40.. im kinda weiry that a synthetic may cause me more problems because i am starting to smell oil, but not burning or leaking any.... but as an oil mechanic i know that if there is a slight leak due to the fact that synthetic flows better it will also make a slight leak into a much larger problem than conventional oils

i have been using Honda oil only in crankcase and honda gear lube in both diffs

Go to amsoil and read the best 12 motor oil test.. Amsoi and mobile 4t are best

tj i run shell rotell t 15w40 oil that i get at walmart for 16 bucks a gallon .....and its wet clutched approved and i run it year round here in mass ! but if you run alot in extreame cold (10 to -10 degree ) go with the gn4 in 0w30 or 40 ...stick with the dino oil hondas like it

I run rotella in all my bikes, Dino 15/40. But I use Honda gear oil
In the trans side of my 450r and diffs of 450 foreman

kay i will look into the tella t, mission you say u use different oil in the engine and a different oil in the trans, idk if you have a different quad but my foreman uses the same oil in the trans and crank in one???? p.s. mission thats alot of gear oil on reserve u stock up on gear oil like ammo lol

no. on my 450R...it has separate motor/trans sides of motor. and i changed motor and trans oil on that bike every ride

my 420 AT runs and shifts a lot smoother with the amsoil. I put GN4 in this time and I am going back to amsoil when I change again.

I have been back and forth between the honda oil and the valvoline atv oil. I cant tell no difference between the 2. lol Thought about trying the Amsoil but just havent yet.

i still would change it just as often as i do the honda oil, i like i said im an oil mechanic and i get people that come in all the time they swear by amsoil, but when i change the filter the oil is so dirty, im not really having problems with using the honda oil, im just trying to make my 4 wheeler last longer, i kinda also change it every other season whether i ride or not, just because i know the oil doesn't wear out its the additives in the oil that wears out, and i think that because i am smelling oil i should stick with conventional,,, oh and not knocking it because different folks different strokes but in the F-350 we actually stopped using rotella because we found out that it is a sopus product which penzoil is a sopus product i wouldnt put penzoil in my car if it were empty, id drive it empty before id use penzoil
