Default '04 Foreman 450 4wd issues

Alright guys....here's the problem:

I've got an '04 Foreman w/ Trax-Lock, while in 4wd, it will quit working for no reason and revert to 2wd. If I cycle the ignition key, it starts working again, but will eventually quit again. The problem existed when I bought the bike, and while tearing it all down/rebuilding it, I checked, cleaned, and greased all electrical connections on the bike. This particular bike doesn't have a functioning instrument panel right now, so I have no idea if the 4wd indicator is flashing or not, and if it is flashing, how many times it's flashing. I tried getting any possible codes by checking for voltage at the plug where the instument panel plugs in (Brown/White & Black/Blue = 4wd indicator light), but that was not succesful.

Anybody got any ideas? If all else fails, I'll have to strip the front plastics off of it and go through each scenario listed in the service manual. Just hoped someone had run into this before.

Picked up a used display today, and all is fine. 4wd works like it's supposed to. Guess it doesn't like not having the display hooked up!
