well now all the kinks are worked out on mine its time to do the kids 450,it was smoking a bit.tore the topend down today an this is what i found a lil bit of oil build up on piston an head,pulled the cyl an it looks great,slick as eel snot,do yall think i can get away with a hone job an new stock piston kit?

i would just rering it and do valve seals ! unless the piston is shot or your boring it why replace the piston

well if i put a new piston an rings it would be like brand new also ive had a couple of buds just rering them an they start to smoke again because of piston slop in cyl.just a hundred bones for a new kit thats what im thinkin.

measure the piston and see if it worn out .its your money can you post one of your little pictures of the piston skirt ...lol

you ask advice and then someone chimes in. you dont like there advice cause you've already got your mind set on putting the new piston in. seems like i should advise you to spend the $100 for the new piston kit. lmfao... not trying to be a pr!x by saying that.

I've seen folks just put rings in and have the smoke return but in those cases they didn't run a berry hone down the cylinder to "rough" it up. The new rings didn't have the rough cylinder wall to make them seat.

A new piston isn't a bad idea but if specs out, a new set of rings would save you a lot of money.
