Yeah, you can change it by removing the rear crankcase cover and removing the one bolt that holds it in.

No problem. Yeah, the foot shifter shaft is easy to change on the longitudinally mounted engines, once you get the rear crankcase cover off.

sound like the wires got switch! my carburetor did the same thing when the little heater wires broke on the bottom i put them back on the wrong way and i layed it on the frame and every time it popped the fuse when i turned they key on and i couldn't figure out why or theres something screwed up in the shift motor itself.

im gonna convert mine over to "S" too, i have an 04 and i'm sick of that **** electric shift, all it does is mess up, i had it workin and washed the bike off and it quit workin!! ahhhhh!!! now i can't get it to work at all, i charged the battery, took the battery out to charge so it would reset, cleaned the wire harnesses with electrical cleaner, then filled them with di-electric grease and still nothing i'm gonna play with it some more tho., but if i'm gonna spend money on it i'm gonna buy that shaft and shifter, and a set of floorboards, i think i seen them on ebay.
and i sold this rincon so i have to change my name now, lol i put 28s on 450 without lift and they clear great!

Stevejere, i just went out there and checked mine is doing the exact same thing, it works when i pull it off, but as soon as i get in popped in postition it goes to blinking again, and my carb heater wire is broke, but i'm not blowing any fuses, they all look good, i will have to go see if it is touching the frame or something??????? what did you end up doing with yours????
