Got a new contactor all hooked up; eliminates the Superwinch replacement model. Will add the photos as a new album; i can't seem to get it to let me add in the thread; album will be labeled as " contactor install"

This is getting annoying. New contactor is hooked up; new battery last October; went out to widen the driveway with my bike; after 15 minutes couldn't raise the plow blade....sat still at 1/2 throttle for a few minutes; got it lifting again. Now i didn't tie the red wire to the ignition cause the screws in the cover wouldn't turn; so i just hooked the wire to the positive battery post to complete the switch circuit. Is it possible that with it hooked up like that and a 2 weeks sitting idle the red wire was draining the battery down? Plan on leaving the Battery tender hooked up for a full day as it's a 1amp trickle.

Three days on the battery tender; no change; plenty of power to start the wheeler; get the click noise at the contactor no matter which way i push the rocker switch. I hooked up my battery charger on 2amp charge; shows only 1/2 charge on the gauge. Now it seems that these "contactors" only work as long as the battery is "fully charged". With a direct switch even if the battery was at 1/2 power it still ran the winch. I am putting up with it for now until i can find a new replacement without these "contactors" Newer modern equipment does not always mean its better; too much stuff to short out!

The direct type switch i had on the 450 when i bought it in '03 never had any draw on the battery until you used it; and it worked no matter the weather or if the battery was at full charge or down from setting for months at a time. Maybe i just seem to have crappy luck and keep getting lemons; the contactor is 2 weeks old and the shop i got it from won't take it on return as it's an electrical item; out $80!

Battery is fully charged now.....winch works; tried it with the battery charger; the contactor still only clicks; no blown fuses on the bike; everything else electrical works fine; lights; fan; all wiring is good; no bad connections anywhere that i can find.....anyone else ever have this much trouble with winch wiring setups?

I got a "Quadraxx" contactor box wired in with a mini rocker switch; the switch was a Superwinch replacement; it had a relay box; i fried 2 of those then i bought this contactor/relay instead to wire up everything; it worked for 1 day. I got a photo album in the gallery called "contactor install"; shows what i am having problems with. I had the old style before but it wore out after 9 years of plowing snow; since i did the replacement i have been plagued with trouble; the winch is fine cause each time i use booster cables to test it works both in and out; just been having bad luck and can't figure out wtf is going on!

I found a new switch; it's a Superwinch handlebar mount rocker; part #2233B; has a pdf file with install directions; best thing is...it's a "direct to battery to winch" setup; just like my original; gonna bite the bullet and order it up this week; had enough of this "contactor/relay" crap to drive me crazy! But until Monday if any ideas bout how to fix the other set up comes to mind please let me know

I just installed this the other day to replace the old superwinch on mine. Didn't think about putting the solenoid in the utility box. I took my Dremel and made a cutout in the seat. Also cut the hook off that came with it so I could put a removable one on it. Also bout a winch bumper ( highly recommend and very nice to have) also mounted the switch over the handle grips so it was directly over the electronics which selector that was there isn't so much hand travel.... Love this fairly cheaper winch bought mine on sale for $99 @ northern tool. Wish they would have put the solenoid box near the motor tho more space to mount it

I didn't bother getting the replacement rocker as planned; there was a sale up here for the LT2000 superwinch with the big yellow hand switch; got it for $65 taxes in. Opened the box up and guess what? No relays to mess with. Just the winch and the yellow hand held controller with a 50 amp circuit breaker. Relays or contactors not needed; because they are junk considering the luck i have been having. I will wire up the new switch this weekend. The controller may be a little bulky but i don't care as long as it works,
