Default 2003 450es Shifting Problems

I have a 2003 450ES and I am experiencing a shifting issue. Here is my problem...

From a dead stop position, I can shift perfectly up from 1-5 gear while riding. However, while riding, I can't down shift at all. It started out being that I had to completely stop in order to get it to downshift and now it is difficult to get it to downshift at all.

I checked the battery and it checked out at 12.3V, the battery cables are in good shaped and have good contact with the battery. I have not received a blinking gear number to indicate a fault. As mentioned above, it is only to downshift, the upshift works great?

Please help.

I unplugged everything electronically, cleaned them up good, tested everthing from angle sensor to you name it, put them back together and low and behold. Problem solved. No replacements parts just a good cleaning. My son has rode on it all day today and is on his second tank of gas and no problems. I wish they were all this easy!!! Now I need to look at my transmission problem on the Rincon 650...

Good to hear you have it solved. Do you have a thread on the Rincon?

if you go to docsatvservice(dot)com and order his bolt on hand or foot shifter for the ES models. you can ride alot more than waiting on getting a part for the ES or spending alot of mone trying to fix the ES . his number is 601-659-9931
