.006" of valce clearance is pretty much 0 when the engine is at operating temp. The engines that I adjust I set the clearance at .026" I and .028" E set at operating temp. (big american V8's). I burn my hands less on my wheeler.

Oh and another thing the manual says to adjust them when the engine is under 95 degrees fahrenheit, so in other words a cold engine.

I'm looking at replacing my valves here in a few weeks, how long after I install them should I take a look to see if they need to be tightened?

When buying a new machine honda recomends to adjust the valves after 200 miles. Since you will be putting new parts in your motor I would say 200 miles.

I think i will have to re check valves tomorrow as foreman back fires now when coming off the gass on overrun large bang and flame out of exhaust ????? only when warm so what now may be some thing else any clues any one , a new post mite be needed getting bit off topic !!
Yes exhaust valve was tight ?? couldnt get .006 feelers in so was extra carefull this time and both now set ,
Back fire gone except when i thrash it , so twice in one week makes me near a pro now !
Hope thats a end to that
