Troubleshooting ES problems on your 98-01 Foreman 450ES The Foreman 450ES has been in use since 1998 and electric shift problems are starting to appear more and more as time goes by. 02-04 Foreman 450ES models have the ability to store trouble codes which makes the troubleshooting procedure fairly straightforward. 98-01 models do not have the ability to store trouble codes and this makes the troubleshooting procedure more complicated. Here is a great troubleshooting guide for 98-01 Foreman 450ES owners to help them diagnose electric shift problems.

I have a Honda foreman es450 and im having trouble with the reverse. It had 5 fwd and 1 reverse and it is the shift on the go push button with the up and down arrows. I had it checked awhile ago and they said they checked everything and greased everything up and it worked all summer. But now it stopped working again so i think its a problem with the cold weather. because everytime i take it out of the garage it stops working. it should be clicking to allow it to switch to reverse but it wont do anything. PLEASE HELP SO I CAN SLOVE THIS PROBLEM ALREADY!!!"

I have a Honda 450ES. When I first put it in four wheel it seems to work, until it heats up. Then the green 4 wheel drive light will start flashing and no 4 wheel drive. The green light flashes 2 times a little space and two flashes. It just keeps repeating this. Any clue what might be wrong?

is it possible to upgrade a 98-01 to have the ability to store trouble codes? - could the key 98-01 part be simply swapped out for the key '02 part?

itp 589's are a good all purpos mud tire and very tough as well. have them in 26" on my 03 450es foreman. the itp mud lites are ok,ive had 25"at,26"xl's and 28"xl's and i'm pretty sure my 589's do better than all the mud lites
