2004 450 es running poorly/starving

I took my Foreman 450 up to my brothers today to ride. It ran perfect for a while and then started starving for fuel. I could choke it a bit and it ran better but not right. I also got it fairly hot. I had a stick wedge up and stop the fan. What should I try first? Carb clean? I pulled the fuel line at the carb and have good flow there.
Also do you think I ruined the fan? It worked after I removed the stick but then it never ran again. It still felt hot but the light wasn't on.
I appreciate any advice on this.

Start by pulling the carb off and giving it a good cleaning. A partially, or totally plugged jet could cause those symptoms. May be sucking air from somewhere as well. Engines tend to run somewhat better when choked, if they are getting too much air from vacuum (carb signal) type leaks.
