2001 Honda Foreman 450. Won't start. Replaced carb, set valves to .006. It has good fire and compression is 90 lbs. if I prime carb it will hit but won't start.

Timing? Is the carb set-up properly? What has been done to it since it ran last?

Welcome to the forum.

When you say "hit" do you mean it will run for a second? If so, you have a fuel delivery problem. You sure your petcock is allowing gas flow to the carb? Did you put a china carb on there or rebuild the original?

Yeah spitting back through carb sounds like timing might have jumped a tooth. I'd put a new plug in it first. Try a shot of starter fluid in from the airbox. If it still backfires then, almost guarantee it's timing.
