Default 95 Honda rear end

Got a new to me Honda foreman yesterday and started working on it and first thing I noticed is it was very though to push it when it was in neutral. I jacked it up and tried to move the rear end and both tire move but very very tough to move further then an more the a couple of inches. They rock forwards and backwards about 2 inches easily but then gets stiff. I then jacked up the front and they move free with no problems. This four wheeler has not been used in a while so doing some maintance. I did think it was the brakes as the rear rock very free a couple of inches and the cable and brake moves free. Please let me know if there is anything else I need to look at.

the rear diff was low on fluid but no metal or anything like that i have since refilled and still have the probem. could it be the bearing rusted up the feel and sound good when you push on the tires.

You have a full time 4x4 machine. When the front wheels are on the ground you are going to get resistance in the drive line as its trying to turn them also.

thanks for the info so should i look at my rear breaks as it is very dificult to push when it is in nuteral and when you let off of the gas it is very quick to decelerate. the rear brakes function and the cable is not stuck but may need to pull the wheel off and take a look. any other suggestions?

The brake cam could be sticking and not letting them release. When you had the machine jacked off the ground did you try the brakes? Do that and that should tell you if they are releasing or not.
