Default 2000 TRX400FW No Spark

Yes, first I would like to say I have read many topics and well to be honest, I havn't gotten what Im looking for. Here it goes.

2000 400 Foreman.
No Spark

Tested run/stop switch - tested good, supplys BattV to ICM
Tested coil - Tested good, ingnition mate. Meets manuals Ohms
Tested pulser - Peek voltage > 0.7VDC (more like 6.8VDC? ) I'll be contacting my rep in the morning about this? Maybe its my answer.

Tested grounds, all ohm to ground.

I just cant get a signal to the coil via bl/y wire. (black/yellow tracer)

I ohmed the harness to and from coil to ICM, pulser, ect. Little to no res.

I swapped ICM from a running machine, still no spark. The doner Honda runs with ICM from this 400.

VDC to IMC do not drop below 10VDC while cranking. Using a booster as well. (10.70+VDC)

I am manually jumping the Neutral switch to ground as the switch inside the case is not working. I do not see a problem as this is what the switch does anyways.

What am I missing????

i went threw something like this on my old 2000 450s .i checked all the things that you diid, but only difference was that it would get spark intermintly.it ended up being the keyed ignition switch which was cracked on the backside(right threw the epoxy backing where the wires go in ). i just jb welded it back together and used siclocone.......and never had a problem with it

I'll have to check that in the morning when I get back to work. So wires were loose? touching each other? Grounding? I havn't noticed any dropping voltage. Thanks for the info.

all the wires that go into the ignition switch go into a curkit(sorry about spelling)board that is incased in epoxy (the epoxy was cracked and it broke the board)
i think where it cracked it was grounding out

I have all the plastics off so I'll just jump the wires and bypass the switch and see if that helps. I will post what I find out.

Swap your regulator/rectifier out with the other machine, most likely that is the problem.

And we have a winner. One of the stator wires were shorted to ground, I knew there was a problem with the regulator, just never thought it would effect the ignition, I had unplugged it so it wouldn't ground the wire from the stator to the ICM. Thought that would be enough. I guess not.

So now that the machine starts. Do you know what signal the ICM is looking for from the Rectifier/regulator? Or did you just happen to have that problem before?

The wire from the ICM connects to the one leg of the stator, then to the rectifier before rectifacation?

I had that problem many times before on the 450's, 400's and some of the 350 Ranchers. Actually a pretty common problem on these machines.
