Default Foreman CDI question

I have a 2000 Foreman 400 that I am currently trying to diagnose. While hunting I managed to lose the key to my atv deep in the woods, the only way I could figure getting myself and my quad out were to cut the wires going to my key switch and twist the red and black together to get my power on so I could start up and get out of there, it worked great. Now, I was going to wire up a toggle switch to simulate the key switch the other night and shorted the negative wire against my pliars while I was crimping a connection to the positive wire, it lit up like a sparkler. Now my neutral light will not come on and I have no power at the ignition wires anymore. The neutral/reverse switch seems to check out and jumping it does me no good. The regulator/rectifier seems to check out ok as well as the harness that plugs into it. I have continuity between all the yellows and nothing between them and the ground pin. Would the CDI box be the logical problem here? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Sorry I forgot to mention that all fuses are fine even the thirty amp main fuse, thanks for the input though.

You need to figure out why you have no power at the red wire. Besides going through the main fuse and T'ing off to the regulator it's a straight run from the positive cable to the ignition switch. Start back by the main fuse and make sure you are getting power through it and start working your way forward.

Welcome to the forum.

OK, upon further inspection I determined the main fuse was fine, I had already checked it out once, but did again trying to be sure. I realized I was getting positive power for my starter switch from the red/blk wire which is the fan wire. I checked its fuse with my multimeter and it was blown so I sawpped it with a new one and problem solved. It kind of agrivates me because I thought I checked that fuse early on visually and didn't see any problems, but it fixed the problem so i'm happy. Thanks a lot for the help.

You may have checked the fuse. I have seen on larger fuses not on ATVs that they show good when Ohmed but when power is applied it breaks again so if you can check for voltage instead of ohms sometimes it helps. Just a thought to throw out there
