Went back and mess with the 400 some. Left the seat and the side covers off the fuel tank and rode around for bout 15 mins. Left it running while I went to my parent's house. so it probably idoled 10 mins came out and never saw any more smoke. Got ready to head home and the oil temp light blinked at me. Is this something to be worried about? I revved the motor a few times and seen a lil smoke come out the tail pipe and then the fan came on for bout a min or two. It was gettin dark and thought time to head home. I was pullin back into the building and seen a bunch of smoke coming from top the head right under the fuel tank i got my light and it appeared it was coming from the valve cover. Why would it only do this as it gets hot???

does ur motor lack power when it warms up?

you said it was coming out of the head. you could have a warped head, a blown head gasket or both. that's why i asked if you lacked power. you'd lose compression with either of those

Not that I can tell. still pulls all 5 gears strong. so i may just be looking at a valve cover gasket?

that would be my guess. with a head gasket u should be able to hear it blow air. when was the last time you changed the oil and oil filter

how bad is it leaking? the reason i ask is cause you might've lost enough oil for it to start getting hot. have you rode it anymore?

the smoke could also be a bad or broke ring.
